Materia is an independent publication and cultural studio working across art, design, architecture, and place.
Founded in Mexico City and operating between the Americas, Materia began as an editorial platform dedicated to documenting the people, ideas, environments, and forms of creative authorship shaping contemporary culture.
That editorial foundation has expanded into a broader practice: research, narrative development, identity, and experience, always with the same underlying question — how do ideas take form, and how does form carry meaning?
Publishing remains central to our perspective. Editorial inquiry informs how we research, collaborate, and bring work into the world.

Sarah Len is the founder and creative director of Materia, an independent publication and cultural studio working across art, design, and architecture.
Trained as an architect, her work sits at the intersection of storytelling, material culture, and spatial thinking, shaped by years spent collaborating with designers, artists, and institutions across the Americas. Through Materia, she has developed a platform that documents creative voices while also partnering with studios to shape positioning, narrative, and cultural presence.
Her approach is rooted in editorial thinking. Rather than separating communication from creation, she treats narrative, design, and context as inseparable forces that shape how work is understood and experienced. Materia began as a publishing project and has grown into a studio practice grounded in the same principles: clarity, restraint, and attention to what carries meaning over time.
Based between Mexico City and California, her work is informed by a deep sensitivity to place, material, and the communities that shape creative practice.
