THE MAT MX is a new hot pilates, power yoga & dance studio based in Mexico City that focuses on mindful movement for everybody. Materia Studio designed the brand identity and developed the creative direction for their launch campaign, including photography by Carlos Manuel and a short video by Diego Ramos.

Brendan Tadler is a New York based interdisciplinary designer who often explores the relationship between art and architecture. Tadler has an extensive background in luxury retail and residential design, with a reputation of literally carving out monolithic designs in his magnificent projects across the globe. The Marshmallow Collection is Brendan Tadler’s first work of sculptural objects distinguished by their deceivingly soft shapes, with the weight of solid stone. Materia developed the creative direction for the campaign, photography by Mayra Carreno and designed the product catalog.

Unno is a gallery and platform by and for Latin American young designers whose aesthetic concept portrays the conjunction of strong poetic statements and deep life experiences. For CDMX Art Week 2023 Unno’s artists and designers were commissioned to study the UNAM library and create a body of works that express the ideals, constructive methods and materials, and feelings of the epoque. Materia Studio designed the exhibition identity including invitations, web banners, signage, and a poster.

Barro, meaning clay, was curated and produced by Materia Studio and explores a vast expression of ceramic art and our intrinsic relationship to clay from the beginning of time. This collaborative exhibition includes over 70 unique ceramic pieces, ranging from traditional artisanship, design and contemporary art. Barro exhibited at Materia Studio in Mexico City and Love House in New York City with work by Carlos Matos, Disciplina Studio, Eny Lee Parker, LGS Studio, Amate, Nicholas Pourfard, Encrudo, Eusebio, Pablo Arellano, and more. In Mexico City, locals and visitors were welcomed in the famed Pujol restaurant with an opulent installation by art director and visual artist, Orly Anan. Orly explores mysticism, ritual and tradition in her tribute to Día de Muertos assembling ingredients from the kitchen of Pujol and beyond. Pujol welcomed guests with food for the soul, in this case, tamales and atole. Materia Studio produced an editorial piece with photographer Luis Garvan and author Julieta García González.

As part of the events organized during this Art Week Mexico 2023 Materia and Mubi created a sensual, mystical, and enveloping atmosphere for the launch party of the short film Ein Sof by the Colombian-Israeli visual artist and art director, Orly Anan that took place at Materia Studio. We transformed our space and created an atmosphere capable of capturing the fantasy presented in Ein Sof with the help of the local design house Azotea, which created a jewel box room with custom pink velvet seating. Musician Lido Pimienta accompanied the launch with an intimate musical performance and the event was captured by Orlando Vega.

Concept XYZ is a curated platform enabling artists, galleries and collectors to buy and sell NFT-powered artworks. Materia Studio worked with Creative Director and Founder of Sized LTD, Alexander May to create over 100 unique pieces of photography and video content for use across the platform.

In the context of the Art Week 2022, Materia hosted a sound performance by Moisés Sacal Hadid, Sites, and Ramón Saturnino at la Torre de los Vientos in CDMX - an iconic sculpture by Gonzalo Fonseca build in 1968 for the Olympics. Using sound processing tools and machines built specifically for this performance, the sculpture of la Torre de los Vientos was transformed into a hertzian space, where all of the surrounding sounds and signals were processed into a sound piece.  Materia Studio produced a short film with director Magaly Ugarte de Pablo and seating was designed by Rooms Studio.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label, in collaboration with renowned digital artist Luke Halls, reimagines a thriving and vibrant future society to push the limits of what’s possible through the release of 10 limited edition designs. Materia curated an immersive experience for ‘Johnnie Walker Blue Label Presents Cities of the Future - Inspiring Steps’. Launching the Mexico edition of the limited edition bottles. An experience inside the futuristic architectural design of architect Miguel Angel Aragones ‘Casa Rombos’. We curated a dialogue between architects Miguel and son, Rafael Aragones with moderator Jose de la O.

Materia Studio produced and directed a short film about Mexican architect and environmentalist, Alberto Kalach. Kalach challenges our collective values and how they translate into the way we live. For him, true luxury lies not in the excesses of scale and materials so commonplace today, but in the seamless integration of architecture and nature. We met the architect at his home in San Miguel Chapultepec dating from the 1930's for a special interview about his home and his latest project with Grupo Habita, Hotel Terrestre in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. The film shot by Natasha Garoosi and Magaly Ugarte de Pablo documented the creative practice that stems from a profound understanding of the sites, allowing his architecture to become fully integrated with nature in an unobstructed way.

Yerba Buena Island and The Bristol is a residential development project in the San Francisco Bay Area. We worked with the development group The Agency, Wilson Meany and architects Walker Warner to envision the masterplan, hospitality program and build a concept presentation that unified the key stakeholders and become the guidelines for the development of the project.

Materia visited Mexico City-based designer and artist, Brian Thoreen in his light-filled live work studio in San Miguel Chapultepec. The designer is involved in some of Mexico’s most important curatorial projects such as nomadic gallery, Masa and Vissio. The documentation of Brian Thoreen’s studio, included a one on one interview and short film documenting an intimate view of his studio.
