Curator Carlye Packer rented a vacant Palm Springs home during the summer off season and threw a House Parté—a group show including over 40 artists with eccentric work that collectively hover around voyeurism, surveillance, day to day scenes, fleeting images and objects that imbue the Western cultural landscape with its American twang. The show, on exhibition through August 31, 2021, is set inside a pale pink house designed by architect, Jack Meiselman, who is responsible for the angled rooflines, post and beam ceiling, mid-century style structure popular to the Palm Springs community.

The curation challenges and plays with ‘where things belong’ in a home. Packer approached the project more like an interior design experiment rather than through the lens of traditional curation which began with filmmaker and pop art artist John Waters larger than life installations. With all the furniture removed and replaced with works by artists including the Haas Brothers, Gaetano Pesce, Waka Waka and Victor Barragán. Packer also impresses upon visitors to experience space in a familiar yet disarming way.
