Kate Greenberg is a young Furniture Designer-Maker based in Oakland, California, whose work challenges the standardized idea of domestic furniture.

By translating seemingly stark materials into something subtle and atmospheric, the designer blurs the line between art and design, questioning preconceived notions of what makes a space intimate and comfortable.

Using coded and recontextualized motifs from the natural and built environment, her work acts as a foggy reflection of reality. She aims to undo traditional functions of furniture and to meld the language of the past with that of the future, building
a design narrative that is no longer tied to a historically overarching canon but rather one that fosters an object's autonomy.

In 2021, Kate launched her own studio practice to formalize her particular view of the world through a lens of design. Practicing in materials like metal, glass, textile, and light, she swims in the freedom of both classical and off-road methodologies.
