October 27 to 31, 2021

JULIA Y RENATA, MOSQUITO NET DRESS, 2021. COLLABORATION WITH MANUEL ZÚÑIGA. COTTON PRINTED DIGITALLY WITH NATURAL DYES.

Contemporary objects fair, Salón Cosa staged its second show in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, México as part of their program’s regional focus. After their wildly successful first edition and debut at México City Art Week, Founders and Curators Mario Ballesteros and Daniela Elbahara presented collectible artistic objects of design, arts and crafts by 13 artists who are either from or based in Guadalajara—widely recognized as a haven for experimentation in ceramics and artisan craft. Ballesteros and Elbahara work in direct collaboration with chosen artists inviting them to expand beyond their usual creative practice to produce unique or limited-edition pieces. The Fall edition of Salón Cosa includes a ceramic installation made of individual vessels by Popdots founders Melissa Aldrete and Luis Cárdenas. Ricardo Lluévanos translated his practice of  illustration, collage, digital painting and colored pencil into ‘It Felt Like Crashing Into the Sun’ 2021, a 3D printed hand painted lamp. Sergio Barba experiments with silica melted over sculptural objects he refers to as inanimate beings. Caterina Moretti of Peca contributed the ‘Loto’ velvet bench and set of poufs made of long-hair Chamula wool from Chiapas.

ALEJANDRO GARCÍA CONTRERAS, ‘MIRROR’, 2021. HIGH TEMPERATURE CERAMICS.
RICARD LUÉVANOS, ‘IT FELT LIKE CRASHING INTO THE SUN’, 2021. 3D PRINTED, HAND PAINTED LAMP.
